Explorations in Watercolor

For the past month or so I’ve been working on some non-bookbinding art projects, one of which is a series of watercolors. I took a watercolor class in college and made a small series of abstract paintings, which I’ve decided to revisit. At the time, I enjoyed making these and have always felt like there was more to explore within this theme.

A stack of offcuts from a bookbinding project gave me the perfect place to explore. I’m working with about 100 sheets of watercolor paper cut to about 5 x 5.5 inches. So far, I’ve done 19 paintings. I’m aiming to average out to one a day, but I usually end up doing two or three in one day and then skipping a day or two. Below are some images of the paintings so far.

I’ll be sharing more of these paintings as the series progresses, and if you’d like to be the first to see my progress, the best place to do that is on Instagram.
